Inverse Phase – Super Smash Land OST release

An alternate reality where Sakurai never wanted to stop making Game Boy games, the soundtrack of which is provided by Inverse Phase. I wonder if the Japanese version of this album art has the happy Kirby on it?
Mega Man 9 – Rockin’ Sockin’ Cinder Blockin’ EP released
The forums at OverClocked ReMix recently released Rockin’ Sockin’ Cinder Blockin’, a tribute EP of the Concrete Man theme from Mega Man 9. Directed by DarkeSword, the release features many regulars in the arrangement community such as Flexstyle, Sir NutS, Rexy, Neblix and The Coop. The idea of putting together an EP came about the day after OC ReMix released the Mega Man 9 album Back in Blue; due to an oversight, Concrete Man was left out of that release. With an initial deadline of a week, remixers were free to submit their takes on Concrete Man for evaluation to be included in the new EP. The result is impressive and a testament to the talent of the community under DarkeSword’s guiding hand.
OverClocked ReMix presents Mega Man tribute album Back in Blue
Today OC ReMix released Back in Blue, a Mega Man 9 remix album. The release was directed by Dustin “k-wix” Kulwicki and features 14 artists producing 18 arrangements. It is OCR’s seventh album this year, 27th overall, and their first release dedicated to an individual Mega Man title. As can be expected, the album features several heavyweights from the community such as bLiNd, Cyril the Wolf, DarkeSword, Joshua Morse, Mazedude, Rexy and Sixto Sounds. 2011 has been a great year for video game arrangement projects so far, thanks in part to the high quality standard that OCR is known for.

Chiptuned Rockman composer interviews
Rockin’ In the Bleep World – Musicians on Chiptuning Mega Man from Jeriaska on Vimeo.
Just recently Jeriaska of nobuooo.com uploaded the above video from the recent Tokyo Game Show in where a handful of the remixers from the Chiptuned Rockman album, which was released at TGS, discuss their work on the album. The album is an amazing collection of Megaman (Rockman in japan of course) tracks remixed in classic NES style from both VG composers as well as chiptune musicians like Virt, Saskrotch, and chibi-tech. If you can hunt down the album, it is definitely worth a listen!
Also for more music news that came out of TGS this year, check out Jeriaska’s post from earlier this month on GameSetWatch.
The Adventures of Duane and Brando – Mega Man 2 music video
My grand buddy Legendary Wizard of the Legendary Hip Hop blog has made me aware of the always impressive VG Rock/Rap hybrid group The Adventures of Duane and Brando (who are also our band of the month for February) having released an awesome new video for a remake of their song MEGA MAN 2. Be sure to check out the video below, then hit them up on their myspace for some kudos on the epic production!
Mega Ran – Splash Woman music video by MVM
This is one awesome video, and song! Arizona emcee Random, AKA Mega Ran is currently working on a project entitled Mega Ran 9 (guess what game it is about). I suppose this can be considered the first single from that album. The music video is made by my good friend over at Music Video Mayhem, and he definitely knows how to make an ace VGM video!
The Megas-inspired artwork
Rocco has drawn up a series of awesome Mega Man “rock posters”, inspired by The Megas and their songs. Check all the pieces out over at his website. There’s some other very cool art up there too.

New NESMETAL track in recognition of Mega Man 9
NESMETAL has just uploaded a brand new track called Emotional Blackout to his MySpace page:
In recognition of Mega Man 9′s release today I decided to upload one of the songs from the new album I’m working on (to be released sometime after the new year).Mega Man’s return to his 8-bit roots inspired the stripped down style change, if you’re wondering why it’s a little different from previous material. His games are one of the main reasons why I live 8 Bit music as much as I do.
So come check out the new track! It’s all you’ll be hearing of the album until it’s release in ’09!
Hope you’re all well, and playing MEGA MAN 9!!!!
-Johnathan
The above-mentioned album is set to be released on Pterodactyl Squad sometime next year, but before that you can look forward to another full length from NESMETAL, entitled Luminous, which is scheduled for release on Pterodactyl Squad rather soon.
*I still can’t get over that Mega Man 9 artwork btw
