Liquid System Drop by Two Playa Game - Classic GM4A chip hop beat
I started this blog back in 2006, and the compilation Music EXP was something we put together alongside a lot of artists I wrote about, to celebrate the one year anniversary of this blog. There are a lot of great tracks on this compilation, despite being about 15 years old. I’m too old to organize compilations these days, plus it seems like everyone else is making compilations and collaborations so that side of the game music community is well covered. Maybe I’ll do something for this blogs 20th anniversary… Until then, you can grab this, and all the other old GM4A Compilations for free (or more, if you are so willing).
I think the track “Liquid System Drop” by Two Playa Game is a little under rated, as glitch tracks tend to be. It takes a certain ear to appreciate these harsher tones, but Two Playa Game was able to mix those glitchy samples alongside a more hip hop aesthetic for something I really enjoyed.
They are no longer around, but there is a lot more music in their vein these days. Very glad this band was the one that paved the way for me to hear more straight glitch music in the future.
It starts out with an ominous series of notes, then the "this pattern will continue until a clear victor has been determined" sample. That's ominous too. It's all ominous. Then we get some DJ cuts, more samples, more ominous sounds. There is just a lot happening here and I appreciate it.
At the two minute mark, things get even more chopped up. The track drops in and out among the various sounds and samples. Then it all slowly falls away until there are no sounds left. Track over.
